Fannin County Fire/EMS along with Gilmer County Fire Rescue and US Forest Service responded to the report of a man complaining of chest pain on the Appalachian Trail near Springer Mountain. Crews hiked in to the person and carried him out to safety, where he was then transported to North Georgia Medical Center for evaluation and further treatment.
