Mr. Thomas Joseph Maguire, age 65 of Morganton, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Heritage Health Care Nursing Home in Blue Ridge, GA. Mr. Maguire was born July 11, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Thomas Eugene Maguire and the late Delrita Kretsch Maguire. He grew up in a small town called Lenox Dale, MA. He graduated from Lenox High School. While in high school, Tom enlisted in the navy reserves then later joined active duty upon graduating during the Vietnam War. After his discharge he drove a delivery truck for Eckerd Drug Company.
Tom had a love for history, he belonged to a cannon crew that participated in civil war reenactments. He was an outdoorsman, he liked to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed operating Ham radios. Tom attended the St. Luke Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge.
Survivors include wife, Elsie Papenfuss Maguire of Morganton, GA., step-daughter, Leslie Delderfield, step-daughter, Sandra (Gary) McGrath, and step-son, Steven (Mary) Delderfield all of Palm Beach County, FL., sister, Claudia (Wayne) Gilbert of Dalton, MA., brother, Andrew (Doris) Maguire, and brother, Kevin Maguire both of Pittsfield, MA. and seven step-grandchildren. Also a host of nieces and nephews.
