Mrs. Virdie Lucille Cook, age 94 of Murphy, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the Clay County Care Center. Mrs. Cook was born July 1, 1918 in Murphy, NC to the late Alf and Rebecca Mull Crowder. A member of Notla Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by husband, Rev. Bill Cook, and son, Kenneth Cook. Virdie enjoyed Quilting and Crochet in her spare time.
Survivors include: son, Bill (Corky) Cook, son, James (Dinia) Cook, son, Charles Cook, daughter, Betty Sue (Roy) Stalcup, daughter, Mary (Harlan) Roberts, 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Murphy officiating. Music provided by Dinia Cook. Interment will follow in the Mount Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include William Roberts, Kenneth Roberts, Matthew Cook, Dwayne Cook, Billy Cook, and Dwayne Edward Cook. Honorary pallbearers are Derek Cook, Johnathan Cook and Stevie Cook.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 and she will lie in state from 12:00 pm – 1:45 pm.
