Vernon George Ross : Obituary

Vernon George Ross, age 83 of Lansing, IL passed away Friday, March 8, 2013.Mr. Ross was a member and deacon of Trinity Baptist Church in Hammond, IN . He retired from Republic Steel with thirty-two years of service. Mr. Ross enjoyed playing the guitar in his younger days and especially liked Bluegrass and Gospel music. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaynelle Long Ross in 2011.

He is survived by two daughters, Gaynetta Ross and Georgette (Tony) Sowash both of Dyer, IN; two granddaughters, Trudy and Sarah Sowash of Dyer, IN; two sisters, Nellie Rayfield of NC and Hazel Ross of GA; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN with Rev. Charlie Sartin officiating. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Charlie Sartin officiating. Interment will follow in the Ross Family Cemetery.
