Mr. Ernest Leroy Toney, age 82, of Morganton, GA passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at his home. Mr. Toney was born in Brownsburg, Indiana on October 20, 1930 to the late James E. Toney and Amanda Toney. He worked for Cedar Creek Trucking as a truck driver for 62 years. He was of the Baptist faith and was a Korean War veteran serving in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Phillips Toney and a son James Hal Bell.
He is survived by a stepson, Ronnie Reed of Blue Ridge; special daughter and son-in-law, Harriet and Lee Barnes of Morganton, GA; grandchildren, James McKinley Bell and wife Tonya of Copperhill, Jennifer Toney of Gainesville, GA and Janice Toney of Tucker, GA; great grandchildren, Anthony Sandelier, Tristian McKinley Bell, and Kaitlyn Toney.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Harold Willis officiating. Music will be by David Anderson. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Bell, Pat Long, Speck Callihan, Joe Bennett, Steve Campbell, and Doug Ray. Honorary pallbearers will by Anthony Sandelier, Harriet Barnes, Tristian McKinley Bell, Ricky Patterson, Larry Sparks, Terry Patterson, Rodney Phillips, Ray Sparks, Mike Callihan, and Gary Callihan. Interment will follow in Copper Ridge Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
