Jerry Collins : Obituary

The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces graveside services for Mr. Jerry Keith Collins, age 53 of Alto who peacefully passed away on Saturday evening, December 15, 2012 surrounded by the love of his family.

Jerry was born in Hall County, Georgia on February 16, 1959 to the late James & Ann Westmoreland Collins. Whether it be hunting, fishing or capturing sights of wildlife he found himself at home in the outdoors. Jerry loved to visit the Cades Cove area with his family and enjoy nature. Gifted with a big and kind heart, he was always there to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends. Jerry was laid back, but outspoken with his thoughts and you never had to wonder where you stood in his eyes. He said what he meant and meant what he said. He was also known for being able to tell a good story and share laughs. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Martha Collins.

He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: loving wife of 15 years, Carol Collins; son & his fiancé, Allan Collins & Alyssa; grandmother, Clara Mae Westmoreland; cousin & her husband, Brenda & Ken Burnett and many other relatives.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012 from the Cemetery of Choestoe Baptist Church with Rev Jerry Arwood officiating. Special music will be provided by The Arwood Family. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Ken Burnett, David Collins, Dale Westmoreland, Robert Defevers, Joey Patton.
