Two Fannin County High School FFA members and one Fannin County Middle School FFA member competed in the Area 1 Floral Design Career Development Event Team competition on October 1 at Chattahoochee Technical College in Acworth. Amy Reynolds competed in the senior division and placed 7th out of 22 contestants. Katie Patterson competed in the junior division and 11th placed out of 19 contestants, and Maddie Mathews competed in the junior division and placed first out of 19 contestants and will advance on to the state competition which will be held at ABAC in Tifton on December 1. The senior division consists of a floriculture management test, an identification practicum, and arranging of either a centerpiece or a bouquet. Junior division participants have to create a bud vase arrangement and either a courage or boutonniere. A special thank you goes to FFA Alumni member Candi Gordy for helping to prepare the students for competition.
