James (Jim)(Materhead) Walker Tilson, age 67, of Copperhill, TN passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. He was born on November 25, 1944 in Aiken, SC to the late James McKinley and Vivian Powell Tilson. Jim retired after thirty-four years from Gold Kist as an equipment operator. He was of the Baptist Faith. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Janet “Gail” Newman Tilson; son, Danny Tilson and granddaughter, Julianna Rhayne Hughes.

Survivors are a daughter, Janet Hughes (Johnny Francis) of Calhoun, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Les Taylor of Worcester, MA, Brenda and Mike Cahill of Douglas, MA, Pat and Jimmy Murrell of Warrenville, SC and Linda and Jerry Clark of Worcester, MA; cousins and extended family also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel, 7871 Blue Ridge Drive, Blue Ridge, GA 30513 with Rev. Roger Hyatt officiating. Pallbearers will be David Johnson, Randall Patterson, Terry Flowers, Jack Thomas, James Taylor, Junior Bell and Junior Dillinger. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Cemetery. T

he family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 24, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 2:00 p.m.
