Mr. Venson Lee Abercrombie, age 89 of Mineral Bluff, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Fannin Regional Hospital.Mr. Abercrombie was born July 17, 1922 in Fannin, GA to the late Howard and Myrtle Barton Abercrombie. He attended Mineral Bluff Baptist Church, he was a Veteran serving in the US Army Air Core during WWII, enjoyed working puzzles and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie D. Abercrombie, step father Frank Barton, brothers, Worth Barton and Winburn Barton..
Survivors include: daughter and son in law, Pat and Roy Fields, son and daughter in law, Howard and Linda Abercrombie, granddaughter and spouse Denise and Rob Gilbert, grandson, Bruce Fields, granddaughter, Lori Henderson, great grandson, Bobby Gilbert, great granddaughter, Jessie Gilbert, great grandson, Austin Henderson, great grandson, Ryan Fields, brother and spouse, Louie and Janice Barton, sister and spouse, Frankie and Donnie Stephens, sisters in law, Blanche Barton, Barbara Barton and Pauline Dillard numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services: Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Toccoa Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Hughes and Rev. Roy Clore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Friday, May 11, 2012 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
