Mr. Clay W. Garland, age 77, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA.Mr. Garland was born on September 22, 1934 in Fannin County, GA to the late Elisha Garland and Lillie Long Garland. He retired from the Fannin County Road Deparment where he was road superintendent for 18 years. He was a member and deacon of McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle. Mr. Garland was a United States Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife Mattie Garland of Blue Ridge; son, Doyle Garland of Atlanta, GA; brother, Lee Garland of Indiana and Arthur Garland of Blue Ridge; sister, Bertha Foster and Ellen Martin, both of Blue Ridge.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Scott Baugh and Rev. Marvin Poole officiating. Music will be by the McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle Choir. Pallbearers will be Benny Messer, Leonar Hunger, Scott Searcy, Larry nicholson, Barry Harris, and Kenny Queen. Honorary pallbearers will by Jeff Queen, Robbie Russell, and Benny Ensley. Interment will follow in Ensley Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening after 6:00 p.m.
