Hillard Phillips, age 87 of Murphy, passed away March 10, 2012 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.Mr. Phillips was born April 5, 1924 in Murphy, NC to the late Virgil and Josie Orr Phillips. He attended Willscott Baptist Church enjoyed gardening, cutting grass and working outside. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Helena Powers.
Survivors include: wife of 47 years, Joyce Phillips, daughter, Sherry (Bryon) Powers, son, Vincent Phillips, sister in law, Brenda Powers, grandson, Nathan Powers, granddaughter, Alyssa Powers, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services: Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Rhodes, Rev. Gene Measmer, Rev. Ronnie Crisp, Rev, Scott Cole, Rev. Larry Phillips and Rev. Rocky Hughes officiating. Music provided by: Bobby Leatherwood, Vance & Lee Ann Ryne . Interment will follow in Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mitchell Phillips officiating. Pallbearers: Bryon Powers, Nathan Powers, Johnny Phillips, Danny Phillips and Norman Phillips.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy, Tuesday, March 13, 2012 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
