John Stevenson : Obituary

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death of Mr. John Donald Stevenson, age 87, of Young Harris, Georgia, who passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.

Mr. Stevenson was born on October 22, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan. He was a veteran of World War II, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps (which later became the U.S. Air Force) as a lieutenant. He moved to the Young Harris area approximately 20 years ago, from Oak Park, Michigan. Mr. Stevenson was a Shriner, and a member of Ferndale Masonic Lodge, #506, F & AM, in Michigan. He was an avid bridge player.

John will be especially missed by his family: his wife, Patricia Stevenson, of Young Harris; two sons, Jim Stevenson, of Berkley, Michigan, and John Stevenson, of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; two nephews, Rick Rashleigh, of Seneca, South Carolina, and Chuck Stevenson, of Pinckney, Michigan; an aunt, Fran Harris, of Oakville, Ontario, Canada; five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

No memorial services are planned.
