State Fire Marshalls Investigate Fire at Toccoa Riverside Restaurant

Fannin County Fire Chief, Mr. Larry Thomas, spoke with FYN this morning regarding the fire that destroyed Toccoa Riverside Restaurant in the early hours Monday morning. The popular restaurant located on Aska Road had been in business since 1991. The initial call came in at 2:35 am and the first fire truck was on the scene by 2:44 am. Mr. Thomas told us that Engine 13 and 3, along with Tanker 3 from the Aska station responded to the blaze. The Blue Ridge med unit also responded to the fire however no injuries occurred. Firefighters were on the scene until 12:04 pm and appreciated the assistance received from Red Cross.

According to Fire Chief Thomas the building construction was wood and possibly contributing to the speed of the blaze could have been propane lines running into the restaurant. The building was destroyed leaving a business closed and several employees out of work.

Considering the size and complete loss of the restaurant, two State Fire Marshalls, one from Atlanta and one from Toccoa, have taken on the task of investigating possible causes for the flame. They will work with an insurance investigator once someone has been assigned. Fetchyournews.com will continue to bring updates as they become available.
