The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. William Curtis Porter, age 60, of Blue Ridge, GA who passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011.Curtis was born in Copperhill, TN on June 19, 1951 to the late Luther and Louise Conley Porter. He was employed with Sisson Log Homes as a building supply delivery truck driver. Curtis was a muscle car enthusiast and collector.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Margaret Stepp Porter of Blue Ridge, GA; step-son, Christopher Brooks of Gainesville, GA; step-daughter, Kimberly and husband, Stacy Pack of Jasper, GA; sister, Frankie and husband, Don Hughes of Murphy, NC; mother-in-law, Rosell Stepp of McCaysville, GA; two sisters-in-law; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Darrell Shook officiating. Music will be by Rev. Rusty Thomas. Interment will follow in the Chastain Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Charlie Sisson, Bruce Sisson, Freddy Ballew, Glenn Davenport, Kennon Davenport and Jeff Harkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Turner, Junior White and Lonis Dillard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral home of Blue Ridge is in charge of the arrangements.
