David Bleakley: Obituary

David Acheson Bleakley, age 81 of Blairsville, passed away August 15, 2011.Mr. Bleakley was born on October 7, 1929 in Franklin, Pennsylvania, to the late Rollin & Sarah Acheson Bleakley. David was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and a proud graduate from the University of Florida. David enjoyed creating and building a new business and did so numerous times to include a childcare center in St. Petersburg, Florida, an old fashioned ice cream shop in Highlands, North Carolina, a hotel in Madeira Beach, Florida and a Grocery Store in Englewood, Florida. He moved to Blairsville in 1992 to retire in the mountains. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

He will be missed and fondly remembered by his family: loving wife of 56 years, Lou Ann Bleakley of Blairsville; Daughters, Pamela Barry of Largo, Florida, Patricia Hamm of Seminole, Florida; and Karen Witt of Cape Coral, Florida; 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.

Memorial Services are scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Mountain Presbyterian Church with Rev. Travis Adams officiating. Music will be provided by Jeff Bauman accompanied by Mary Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to Regency Hospice, P.O Box 494, Hiawassee, Georgia 30546 or to the Humane Society Mountain Shelter, P.O Box 1252, Blairsville, Georgia 30514.
