Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces graveside services for Mr. Burton H. Tischer, age 82, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Mr. Tischer was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 3, 1929, a son of the late Herbert Tischer and Mary Louise Black Tischer. He was a member of The Christian Church in St. Louis, and belonged to the Oddfellows Lodge in St. Louis. He was the owner of a printing shop, and was a member of The Graphic Arts Association, and The Craftsman Club. Mr. Tischer had moved to this area from Maitland, Florida, in 2006.
Mr. Tischer will be missed and is lovingly remembered by his family members: his wife, Violet, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Louise and Joe Steffens, of Eustis, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Burton Hal, Jr., and Peggy Tischer, of New Port Richey, Florida; and son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Yvonne Tischer, of Orlando, Florida. Seven grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011, at 2:30 p.m., in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Rev. Mike Totherow officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Thursday evening, from 6 until 8 p.m.
