Ted Christopher age 62 of Newnan, GA for the past thirty years and a former resident of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away Sunday morning, June 26, 2011 in the Piedmont Newnan Hospital following several months of illness.Ted was a well respected wallpaper and painting contractor in Newnan having restored many of the old antebellum homes in that area. Ted was also an accomplished musician. In his early years Ted performed with the band in Blue Ridge, GA known as the “Blazers” and played throughout the state of GA. In the mid-sixties the “Blazers” composed of Danny Davenport, Eddie Queen, Ted Christopher, Ronnie Thomas and Tony Matthews were selected for appearance in the final competition for Young America Battle of the Bands to be held March 16-20 at the Merchandise Mart of Atlanta, GA. This group was chosen as one of the thirty from a field of two hundred bands. Locally in Newnan, Ted was known as the “Drummer” of the Newnan based band “Jazmine”. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, C.T. “Shorty” Christopher Sr. and Ethelene Tilson Christopher and his sister, Kay German.

He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Janett and David Blackwell of Madisonville, TN; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. from the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, GA, 30263. A second memorial service will be held from the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home in Blue Ridge, GA. The time and date will be announced later.
