The Rebels were able to catch three different base runners in run downs, even though only two outs were needed. One Rebels coach described the series thusly, “It won’t go down as a triple play. We gonna say it was a triple play.”

The Rebels scored in the bottom of the second when Jordan Gray beat a run down between the third baseman and the catcher. Gray’s Barry Sandersesque shake move while the catcher tried to apply the tag allowed him to score. The Gilmer fan base was not pleased.

“That man was out,” and “That’s the worst I seen in my life,” were comments heard from the Gilmer section.

An RBI single tied the game, and a two run home run gave Fannin a 4-2 lead. After holding the Bobcats scoreless in the top of the third the Rebels increased the lead to 8-2 in the bottom of the third with a flurry of Fannin hits at the plate.

The Each team scored one run in the fourth making the score 9-4. Gilmer managed to score two more runs in the top of the fifth, the game’s last inning, but fell short of full fledged comeback.

The second game saw the visitors draw first blood once again, when the Bobcats scored via Fannin failing to “take the out” when the Bobcats had two runners caught in separate run downs, between first and second and third and home. The indecision of the infield led to a run scoring.

Fannin took the lead for good with two runs scored in the bottom of the first, with an RBI double by Kolton Galloway. Neither team scored in the second inning.

The last runs scored by either team were the two runs scored by the home team in the bottom of the third. The games were the last home games for the year for Fannin.
