Thomas R. Stiles : Obituary

The Akins Funeral of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. Thomas R. Stiles, age 90, of Old Epworth Road, Blue Ridge, GA who passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his home.Mr. Stiles was born on May 4, 1920 to the late Milton Stiles and Kannie Bracken Stiles. He worked for Mason Tractor for 52 years as a mechanic. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Epworth and a member of the Adult IV Men’s Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Leona Mull and Beth Carroll. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Dorothey Stiles of Blue Ridge; son, William L. Stiles of Blue Ridge; granddaughter Taren Kelly and her husband Jacob of Johnson City, TN and grandson, Ryan Cothren of Andrews, NC; his best friend Darlene Gooch; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Chan Mitchell officiating. Music will be by Frances Queen and Rev. Doug Simonds. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Kimsey, Junior Mason, Bill Mason, Bill White, Junior White, and Frank Daves. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Epworth, members of the Adult IV Men’s Sunday School Class, and Alvin Harper. Interment will follow in Epworth Baptist Church Cemetery.
