Mary Frances Teague, age 79 of Blue Ridge, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 3, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family. Mary was born December 7, 1938 in Huntington, WV to the late Edward J. and Leola Allen Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son James H. Dean. She was retired after working for GMC and Hoffmann-La Roche. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and lending a helping hand to those in need. Mary was loved by all that knew her. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Chuck Rodgers, as well as her brother, Allen Ward, sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Robert McFarland Sr., two grandchildren, Steffen Farmer, and Dustin Dean, and one great-grandchild, Ayden Thompson. She also has many nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, GA. Mr. Jimmy Grindstaff, Sr., age 82, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at his home. Born on May 23, 1936 in McCaysville, GA, was the son of the late Avery and Carrie Stanley Grindstaff. He retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company where he worked as a Repairman. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Clark Grindstaff; son, Jimmy Don Grindstaff, Jr.; and siblings, Truman Grindstaff, Jack Grindstaff, Edward Grindstaff, Billy Grindstaff, Hoyt Grindstaff, Evelyn Martin, Hildred Dalton, and Lola Patterson.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Diane Grindstaff of the home; son, Michael (Lisa) Grindstaff of Blue Ridge; stepchildren, Ty (Cindy) Ingram of Cleveland and Kathy (David) Eaves of Cleveland; grandchildren, Elijah (Tammy) Grindstaff, Cohutta Grindstaff, and Hope (Michael) Mann; step-grandchildren, Brittany Eaves, Seb Ingram, Sammy Ingram and Annie Ingram; great-grandchild, Peyton Grindstaff; step-great-grandchild, Raylee Evans; brother, Tommy (Patricia) Grindstaff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was conducted on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 4:00 pm from Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Davenport officiating.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.

Shirley Tennancour Callihan

Shirley Tennancour Callihan joined the angel choir on November 1, 2018 from her home in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Shirley was born May 19, 1956 in Whitefish, Montana. She spent her youth living in many different states before settling down in Blue Ridge to raise her family. She had a brief time on earth to love her new grandson, Joshua, but she enjoyed every moment to the fullest. Shirley was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

A private graveside service will be held for the family at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Doris “Dee” Yvonne Tingle, age 83 of Morganton, GA passed away October 29, 2018 in Blue Ridge, GA. Mrs. Tingle was born October 29, 1935 in Fort Sumner, NM to the late William Dirickson and the late Lucille Stewart Dirickson. Dee was a graduate of Albuquerque High School in Albuquerque, NM and an alumnus of Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX. She enjoyed numerous careers during her life including: race car driver, telephone switchboard operator, seamstress, homemaker, and a pastor’s wife. Mrs. Tingle is preceded in death by her first husband (and father of her children) Harold Noble. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Survivors include: her husband of 25 years, Rev. Jim Tingle of Morganton, GA; two sons, Allen (Carla) Noble of Oklahoma City, OK and Dale (Colleen) Noble of Norfolk, VA; daughter, Sheri Upton of Hobbs, NM; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and step children also survive.

Memorial Service: Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Cherry Log Christian Church in Cherry Log, GA with the Rev. Adam Bradley presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cherry Log Christian Church.

Evelyn Virginia Prather, age 84, of Blue Ridge, passed away November 2, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Prather was born May 27, 1934, in Blue Ridge, GA to the late Albert Green and the late Mattie Queen Green. She was a member of New River Baptist Church. Evelyn enjoyed watching the squirrels in her yard, feeding her birds, painting, and flower gardening. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Green, mother, Mattie Queen Green, her husband, Bobby Prather, and grandson, Robert Prather.

Survivors include a son, Rodger (Gladys) Prather, daughter, Susie (Bill) Kendall, daughter, Linda (Joey) Davenport, daughter, Wynoka (Mark) Chitty, daughter, Lisa Sanders, 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services: Sunday, November 4, 2018, at 3:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel of McCaysville, with Bill Kendall officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church Cemetery on Ada St. in Blue Ridge. Pallbearers: Bryan Dills, Gary Dills, Dylan Sharp, Jimmy Smith, Christopher Davis, Levi Prather.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Saturday, November 3, 2018, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Sunday, November 4, 2018, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

Mrs. Geraldine White Bruce, age 65, of Ellijay, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in her home. Born on August 26, 1953 in Blue Ridge, she was the daughter of the late Willy R. and Velvia Lewis White. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ellijay. She retired from Levi Strauss where she worked as a Seamstress and later in Quality Control. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Wendell White, Clarence White, Frances White, and Helen Gibbs.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Thomas Bruce of the home; son, Bobby Wishon and his fiancé Michelle Evans of Ellijay; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Vanessa Wishon of Villa Rica; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Wishon; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Annie White of Atlanta, Kimsey and Lula White of Blue Ridge, and Junior and Pauline White of Blue Ridge.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Dan Rosser will officiate. Interment will follow in the Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church Cemetery. Bobby Wishon, Rodney Wishon, Paul Gibbs, and Tony Parr will serve as pallbearers. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Bruce to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
