The Fannin County High School Lady Rebels and Rebels basketball teams hosted the Lady Colonels and Colonels of Cass High. It was a tale of two games the Lady Rebels ran roughshod over the Lady Colonels, winning 48-19, while the male Rebels of Fannin fell 56-24.

Friday afternoon, December 16, Taylor and Carson Collis wrestled in the Cherokee County USA Wrestling tournament facing off against opponents from North Gwinnett, Cherokee, and Gilmer. In the 8U 65 pound class, Taylor came in second place and Carson came in third. [Read more »]

Fannin County will begin a youth wrestling club. The club will be open to Fannin County's second through sixth graders. The first practice and information meeting will be Thursday, December 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Fannin County High School old gymnasium. Practices will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00. Wrestlers need to wear practice clothes each practice.
The Fannin County High School wrestling team had a come from back weekend. After Fannin fell in a road dual meet to the Dragons of Pickens County, getting scorched 66-15, the Rebels rose at the Rumble on the Ridge. The Rebels, the host team of the dual style tournament, placed third with a 3-1 record. The Rebels only loss came at the hands of Blessed Trinity, the tournament’s first place team. Dawson County finished second.

Fannin County High Schools Lady Rebels and Rebels’ basketball teams traveled to Gilmer County, for contests versus the Lady Bobcats and Bobcats of Gilmer High School. The teams went 0-2 on the day, as the Lady Rebels came up three points short, 41-38, and the Rebels were thoroughly dismantled 74-39.

Carson Collis competed in the Panther Aftermath wrestling tournament at Jackson County High School on Sunday, December 4, 2011. This was Carson’s first wrestling tournament. He went undefeated in the 8 & under 60 pound weight class facing off against opponents from Madison County, Collins Hill, North Gwinnett, and Jackson County.
