The Fannin County High School class of 2012 graduated on Friday, May 25th. The class of 184 students completed it’s matriculation in front of friends, family, and the Fannin County community in the football stadium.

The Fannin County High School Rebels soccer team fell to Jackson 6-2 in the Region 8-AA Tournament. Both the girls' and boys' tennis teams fell in the first round. The boys baseball team was swept in the first round by North Oconee County, 7-0 and 10-0.

In the first game, Fannin was able to keep a 1-0 lead over Banks until the sixth inning. The Leopards scored three runs in the last two innings to top the Rebels, 3-1. Trevor Stone pitched five scoreless innings until the Leopards tied the game after a two-out error in the 6th inning. Stone finished the game with eight strikeout's and one earned run in 6 2/3 innings.
Colby Bowers took the mound in the second game, willing the Rebels to a victory only giving up four hits in his complete game. Bowers struck out seven batters and did not allow an earned run until the seventh inning. The Rebels took a 4-0 lead into the sixth inning, where the Leopards were able to cut the lead to 4-2. Jordan Gray hit a solo home run to increase the Rebels' lead to 5-2. Todd Patterson walked and Brady Stanley singled, both scoring on a pair of Leopard errors, extending the Rebels lead to the final score of 7-2.
Ali Martin had an excellent night on Senior Night for her Rebels. She scored four goals on her way to help the Lady Rebels blank the Pickens Lady Dragons. Cheyenne Golden scored the other two goals for the Lady Rebels making the lead 6-0 for the Lady Rebels. The Lady Dragons seemed to be outmatched in this game with Fannin, and it showed in their loss to the Lady Rebels 6-0.
Zac Greene led the way for his Rebels squad with two goals scored. Austin Towe had a good game as well with six saved goals in the Rebels rout of Pickens. Cody Boswell scored another goal for Fannin, pushing their lead to 3-0. Pickens was able to get on the board with a goal of their own, but that was not enough as they lost to Fannin 3-1.
Noah O’Neal hit his first home run, a two run homer, in the bottom of the first inning. Dawson answered with a two run homer of its own, in the top of the second inning, by the short stop. Fannin really went off in the bottom of the second inning. The Rebels were able to score ten runs without a single out in the bottom of the second inning. Fannin loaded the bases numerous times, and errors by Dawson enabled the Rebels to score at will. Fannin took this game 15-9 over Dawson.
The Fannin County Rebels jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 8-5 to Union County on Wednesday. Union County took the lead in the seventh inning on an RBI single. Todd Patterson racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Rebels. Patterson singled in the second and third innings. Union County showed that they had a lot of fight left in them by rallying to beat the Rebels. Union decided to turn on the jets in the last possible second and it worked to their advantage.
