Fannin High School’s basketball teams played in the Region 7-AAA regional tournament this week with mixed results, as the Rebels went one-and-done and the Lady Rebels posted a 2-1 record, which was good enough for third in the tournament and a state tournament berth. [Read more »] 

The Atlanta Braves pulled off a blockbuster trade on Thursday, as the team completed a deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks that brought outfielder Justin Upton and third baseman Chris Johnson to Atlanta and sent utility man Martin Prado, pitchers Randall Delgado and Zeke Spruill, shortstop Nick Ahmed and first baseman Brandon Drury.

The deal sets the Braves up with arguably the best outfield in the majors, as the team will have Justin Upton, his brother B.J., and Jason Heyward all in the same outfield, putting together a trio that last year combined for 72 homeruns with 227 RBIs and a batting average of .265.

The Fannin Rebels fought hard against the Kings Ridge Tigers on the final day of the Pickens Holiday Classic on Saturday but just could not keep up the pace in the third and fourth quarter of the game, as the Tigers roared to the beat of a 28 point second half to come out on top. [Read more »] 

The Fannin faithful were treated to two great games on Thursday night, as the Lady Rebels went into two overtimes before falling to the Hiawassee Dam Lady Eagles and the Rebels dominated the Eagles in a twenty-one point victory. [Read more »]
