It has been a busy and successful fall season for the Fannin County High School Marching Band.
Our 2012 marching band show is entitled "Southern Melody" and includes "Georgia on my Mind"; The Battle Hymn of the Republic; Charlie Daniel's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" and Aaron Copland's Finale to the ballet "Appalachian Spring."
The Fannin County High School Band most recently attended the Lake Hartwell Marching Festival Saturday October 21st, 2012 at Hart County High School. The band earned straight superiors in all captions including overall band, color guard, percussion, and drum major. The band finished in first place in class 3A. The band also earned third place in the Gold Division, which is a combination of class 3A, 4A, and 5A bands.
The Fannin County Band Booster Club hosted our third annual Blue Ridge Mountain Marching Festival October 13, 2012 where 13 bands from across the state and Tennessee came to compete. It was a very successful event, and we appreciate all the support. This annual event brings many to our community to eat at our restaurants, shop in our stores, and stay in our community overnight. We are proud to bring many visitors to our community to help support the local businesses that support our band and schools.
Last month, The Fannin County High School Marching Band also attended the Armuchee Marching Competition September 29th at Armuchee High School in Rome, GA. The band earned a superior rating in all captions including color guard, drumline, overall band, and drum major. The band also earned 1st Place in Class 3A.
This coming weekend, The Fannin County Band will host our annual Fall Concert on Sunday, October 28th at 3PM at the Fannin County Performing Arts Center featuring the 7th, 8th, and High School Bands. Tickets are a $5 donation and are being pre-sold by the high school band students or can be purchased at the door.
