Like the Shepherds so many of us are afraid of being jolted out of our comfort zones by things we don’t understand, Our father.
But we, like them, need to hear the good news that you have for us. There has been so much bad news this year. We have focused on the downward spiral of our economy, the hurts of our people, and the low level of spiritual strength.
Today, we come again to Bethlehem and see the miracle of Immanuel, “God with us.” The prophecies are fulfilled, the long wait is over, He has come to save us from ourselves and our sin.
Now, there is hope because we are not alone. There is love for the love starved because you gave us your greatest gift. There is joy for the broken hearted because to know him makes life worth living. There is personal peace for the distressed in him who is the Prince of Peace. There is life abundant for we are redeemed by grace divine. May all who come again to the manger come also to the cross where the true meaning of Christmas is found.
Amen
