Murphy, NC— Cherokee County Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced on 2/25/2015 the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office received information that the suspect in an Anderson County SC Homicide may be present or en-route to Cherokee County. The information was received via a teletype/NCIC message that alerted surround agencies that Clyde Dennis (D.J.) Loudermilk was suspect in the murder of his wife in Anderson County.

Fannin County Fire Explorers brought home 1st and 3rd place in the Annual Winterfest competition in Gatlinburg TN Febuary 6-8. Explorer Post 401 won 1st place in hydrant hookup and 3rd in The Cherokee Drill. Over three thousand explorers were registered from seventeen states.

Georgia DOT’s maintenance crews will be mowing the roadsides of Highways 60 and SR 60 Spur in Fannin. In addition crews will resume their work on trimming overgrown vegetation along State Route (SR) 515 in Fannin County. Work will proceed daily between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 13th through Friday, May 16, 2014, weather permitting.
