“For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.” Philippians 1:21-24.

Our Father, as we read these convictions of the Apostle Paul who was imprisoned and faced execution for his faithfulness to you, we are amazed at the peace you gave him. When we cling so tenaciously to life, to see him say that to die is gain, is revealing to us of a deeper insight into the issues of life and death.

There are so many questions that we have about the life beyond. We want to know more of what it will be like. In your word you have only given us veiled concepts. But you do sometimes give your saints a deeper understanding that make it more attractive to them.

We know that these things can only come through personal revelation and assurances. You do give dying grace to your children so that the fear is removed. We are so blessed to know that when the time comes – grace will abound and we will enter into the presence of our Living Lord.

Amen.
