Oh well- you knew it was going to happen. It was only a matter of time as our culture continues to slide into the hedonistic, narcissistic, self-centered emptiness that humanism ultimately leads mankind into. It is the “real black hole!” Talk about an intellectual dark ages! Listen folks- this is the result of living our lives “as if there was no God.” This is the definition of a “Fool.” Check it out. Read Psalm 14:1 (also Psalm 10 and 53). Our culture is moving faster and faster on the slide into the muck of self-destruction.Why am I upset? Think about it- the state of New York has endorsed and openly performed same sex marriage. The definition of the traditional family is now radically different. How are you going to answer “little junior’s question” when he sees two men or two woman romantically holding hands or embracing in the park and asks, “Daddy, why are they acting that way?” Better prepare- its coming. Or what are you going to do when your child is approached by someone of the same sex and is asked for a date? Listen, I thought marriage was the union of Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve! But who am I to address this issue? I’m simply an old gezzer from the previous age- you know the one in which people rode around in a buggy pulled by a horse! I haven’t been enlightened because I listened to the Lone Ranger and the Black Shadow on the radio (remember “only the Shadow knows”). I’m confused because with all the cell phones, there is no place for Super Man to change! Bummer- no wonder evil is on the move. Batman has moved from West to East and the light shows a butterfly (think about that one).

Wait a minute! Didn’t we just establish six “Marks of the Christian Mind”? Right? This is a worldview issue right? Well- let’s examine this issue using these “marks.” Don’t forget that the Lord gave us a brain, not just to keep our ears from floating together, but in order to think. So let’s put this muscle into gear and see where it takes us. Please remember as we procede that we are addressing an issue that is the result of a persons view of the world. It’s not like they are sitting around and thinking of ways to destroy mankind; rather they really believe that they are doing what is best for us as we live together on the “little sphere” called earth and seek to live fulfilled lives as we “do our twenty-four hour” spin on our 365 day trek around the sun protected by an ozone layer which by the way is slowly being destroyed because my wife uses spray on her hair in the morning (which by the way looks great- her hair that is).

So, let’s begin our discussion with Pat (of “Saturday Night Live” fame). “Pat, you are a blooming intellectual idiot who is filling the air with useless, mindless, senseless verbage that demonstrates an inability to understand and comprehend the true issues of your meaningless existence within the flow of space-time history! With the wisdom of an earthworm, you have no answers! Your words demonstrate your stupidity! You have the I.Q. of a grasshopper and the wisdom of a fly! Go back into your cave and contemplate your development from a one-cell piece of slime!”

What a minute! Isn’t Pat an image-bearer of God? Isn’t he/she an individual whose life is significant because the One True God made him/her in His imade? Am I not to treat Pat with respect, with dignity? Do I have the right to speak down to others because they disagree with me? Christ-followers, please remember that we are obligated to treat others with respect! Remember, we just talked about the principle of “concern for the person.” Just because someone is coming from an entirely different worldview, we no right to treat them disrespectfully. Please be careful- it was the Apostle John who said in his first letter, “how can you say you love God whom you have not seen, when you hate His image bearers whom you have seen.” Look it up! As a follower of Jesus, we are obligated to do this (how about that- a second principle- “acceptance of authority”).

Please understand that the disagreement is a result of living one’s life according to a different set of presuppositions, a different standard ( another principle- “the conception of truth”) and not understanding the true nature of man (ha- another one- “awareness of evil”). They are living their lives for the “here and now” (remember “supernatural orientation”) and forgetting that life is lived in a relationship with the one whom I worship in everything I do (how about that- “all of life is worship”).

Think about it! By the way this doesn’t just apply to this issue but to all we do as we seek to live our meaningful, useful, significant lives for the glory of our Great and Awesome King- whose Name is Jesus! See ya!
