Daily Prayer: 06/21

Religion

Matthew 6:33-34. “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” O God, we live in very difficult days. So many of your children are out of work. The economy is in such a state that it affects most of us. Families are being put out of their homes. The cost of food is rising. There is much to worry about. And then we read the words of Jesus that we are not to worry about what we are to eat or drink or what we shall wear or where we shall live. He said that like you care for the birds, you will care for us, and like you give the flowers of the field their myriad colors, you will add beauty to our lives.

We are admonished to make your way and will first in our lives; and all of the things that we worry about will be provided for us. Help us to get our priorities straight and put first things first. Then the worries about our tomorrows will not loom so large before us.

If this person who now prays is consumed by worry over these things, grant peace of mind so that sleep and rest will come. In Jesus Name.

Amen.
