Featured Stories, News

BLUE RIDGE, GA – The board of commissioners have a hard decision to make in the near future when it comes to employee health benefits. The Fannin County board of commissioners called a special meeting for Friday April 26th to have a presentation delivered about rising cost of health care for employee’s of the county. No decision has been made on which route or option will be taken, but to just give you an idea of how much of a difference the county is looking at; for the same coverage the employees received in July 2014 the cost has gone from around $1.1 million to $1.6 million.

That’s over a 48% increase on cost of health care.

Right now the county pays right at $500 per month per employee for health care. With the new increase in premiums the county is looking at paying $723 per month per employee if the commissioners decide to stick with the same coverage plan that employees have now.

A decision needs to be made by May 15th concerning what the county wants to do so stay tuned for updates.
