FCHS FFA Teams Place in State Event

The Fannin County High School FFA Horse Evaluation junior and senior teams recently placed in the State FFA Horse Judging Career Development Event. The event was held at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia on Feb. 7.The Horse Judging Career Development Event advances the knowledge of agricultural education students about the selection and management of horses. Participants in the event judge classes of horses, give oral reasons for class placings take a written examination, and completed a team activity. Senior team members include Lexie Jacobs, Courtney Cruse, Lakota Towe, and Montana Pearson placed 5th out of 41 teams. Jacobs placed 3rd out 146 contestants. Junior team members include Adriana Smith, Kelly Locke, Hailee Mealer, and Kelyn Faulkner. Smith placed 19 out of 165 contestants.

FFA is a national organization of over 520,000 members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. FFA is an integral part of the agricultural education program in public schools. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
