Chandler and the Lady Rebels Roll Through Lumpkin; Boys Fall to Close One

The Rebels and Lady Rebels where in action on Friday as the teams took to the road to face the Lumpkin County Indians.
The ladies took to the hardware first for the heated match. Lindsey Humphrey got the ladies rolling with a coast to coast steal to get the Lady Rebels on the board first.

Forcing turnovers and big rebounds put the girls out to a quick 8-2 lead. Kayla Chancey and Humphrey ended the first quarter with 6 a piece to lead the Indians 12-4.

Two words described the second quarter: Molly Chandler. After only touching the ball once in the first Chandler took over scoring 18 points in the quarter putting the ladies up to a 38-20 halftime lead.

After the half the defense stepped up holding the Indians to a mere 6 points as the girls kept strolling moving the lead to 51-26.

Rebel fans got to see a glimpse of the future in the fourth quarter when the 6 ft Freshman Hope Franklin took the game over putting the Indians away to a final of 65-30.

The (4-3) girls look to continue their winning ways as Murphy comes to town on Tuesday.

The boys fell in the matchup losing another heart-breaker to the Indians.

Sam Kaye and the guys started the game out strong getting to a quick 16-7 lead.

Lumpkin’s second quarter efforts was a big momentum swing though as the Indians opened the quarter with an 11-0 run.

The big quarter sent the boys into the locker room trailing by 8 at the half with a score of 22-30.

Both evenly matched teams went point for point in the 3rd quarter to put the start of the fourth with a score of 34-41.

Brandon Jordan and Adam Ingram both put up some monster threes to pull the Rebels in to a one point lead with 4 minutes left on the clock.

With both teams in early bonus fouls paid a big part in the final few minutes. Kaye came up with a huge stop with just under to minutes to keep the boys down by one with a 50-51 score

The Indians were just to much hitting a late three for the team to go on to win by a final of 52-56.

The Rebels look to turn the win column back to 500 as they face Murphy on Tuesday and enter a Christmas Tournament this upcoming weekend.
