Post 2 Commissioner Larry Joe Sosebee expressed the due diligence that had been placed on the budget by the board of commissioners by trimming the budget everywhere possible to save taxpayers money.

“We have cut back this budget to the bone everywhere we could,” said Sosebee.

Even with the trimming of the requested budget increases the proposed budget for 2015 still grew from $15,482,322 in 2014 to $15,955,321 for the coming year. The majority of the increases came in the areas of public safety to purchase and the road department.

The board will be holding a special called meeting on December 12th at 9:00am to vote on the adoption of the proposed budget.

After the discussion on the budget, citizen Joe Webb confronted the board of commissioners with the concern of why nothing had been done to move forward in the process of adopting the new county legislation that was presented at the last BOC meeting.

Webb brought up the fact hat the board had made a motion, voted on, and passed the motion to take baby steps in the process to move forward in the adoption of the new county legislation document.

Post 1 commissioner Earl Johnson responded to Webb’s remarks by saying that hopefully after the first of the year some progress could be made in moving forward with the adoption of the new county legislation document.

At the end of the meeting the board voted to cancel the December 23rd BOC meeting and resume regular meeting schedule on 6th.
