Fannin Seniors Stumble: Fall to East Hall 38-20

Thirteen seniors of Fannin County High School’s Rebels football team took to the field last Friday to grind it out on the turf one last time on the home field. Each of these seniors tried his hardest for to pull out a victory over the Vikings of East Hal,l but snowy conditions lead to the Rebels ending on the wrong side of a 38-20 final score.
Senior Captains for the night included Tyler Beaver, Will Davis, Dakota Queen and Cody McPeek. Fannin started the game receiving the ball during a slow steady cold rain.

Both teams started the game with quick short series that ended in punting situations. The wet and rainy conditions proved to hurt Fannin first as a fumble put the Vikings on the Rebel 20 yard line half way through the first quarter.

East Hall wasted no time scoring quickly on a 16 yard TD run with five minutes left in the first. A missed extra point would make the score 6-0.

Senior Hunter Rice stepped up huge recovering a fumble on a punt setting up a short field for the Rebels. Brad Davis kept the ball and found the goal line with 3:30 left in the first.

Senior Will Holloway came on for the PTA and gave the Rebels its first lead of 7-6 on the night.

East Hall wasted no time on the next drive with big plays moving the Vikings down the field. East Hall found the end zone with two minutes left in the first. A failed two point conversion made the score 12-6.

The Vikings forced a turnover on the next drive and capitalized scoring a TD on the drive to make the score 7-19 with 9 mins left in the first half.

Jack Roper was there to help swing the momentum back to the Rebels, taking the ensuing kickoff back to the house for a 74 yard TD making the score 13-19.

The Viking QB proved to much to handle. On the ensuing drive Watson would take off on a 65 yard dash to the end zone making the score 13-25.

The senior lead Rebels defense stepped up to make a goal line stand stopping the Vikings on their three yard line with two minutes left in the half.

The stop left a 25-13 halftime score on the game.

After halftime Beaver came out of the locker room in the number 88 jersey to finish the game in honor of his dad who worn 88 in high school.

The Rebels came out with a point to prove quickly stopping the Vikings but could not get the offense rolling.

Senior Daniel Lange changed the slump when Davis hit him in stride to score on a 50 yard TD pass making the score 20-25 with five minutes left in the 3rd.

East Hall would put another score on the board to end the 3rd with a 32-20 lead.

During the fourth quarter, thick and heavy snow began to fall, making it tough for either team to get momentum going. The Vikings added one more score to win in the game 38-20.

Fannin has a long road trip as the team heads over to Franklin County. A Fannin County win over Franklin would put first year head coach Jim Pavao and the Rebels in the playoffs in the number four slot. Good luck to the Rebels this Friday Night.
