Obituaries October 24, 2014Mary Ruth Kimsey, 78, went to live with Jesus on October 21, 2014.Mary Ruth was born on June 6th, 1936 in Ducktown, Tennessee. Mary Ruth graduated from Ducktown High School, then attended Georgia Baptist Nursing School. She married Mark Russell Kimsey, Jr. in 1955.
Mary Ruth was a Surgical Assistant to several doctors. She worked in East Point, Georgia for Barber Auto Air as a secretary and then Lance Roofing and Inspection Services as a secretary and treasurer before retiring.
After retirement Mary Ruth volunteered in many capacities including Georgia Federation of Women’s Clubs, as President in East Point in offices at the state level. She also volunteered at Southwest Christian Care, Christian City Children’s Home and Arts Alliance in Union City, Ga. Mary Ruth loved people and was always looking for ways to help others.
She was an active member of the Hope in Prayer Class at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point.
Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Hugh Miller, her mother, Lennie Sigmon and step father Marshall Sigmon.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Russell Kimsey, Jr. A sister; Margaret (Junior) Mason. Brother; Joe (Wanda) Miller. Sons; Russ Kimsey (Hallie P.) Kimsey and Joe (Sandra) Kimsey. Grandchildren; Torie Kimsey Peterson, Jacob (Tiffany)Kimsey, Jenna Kimsey (Blake) Meharg, Logan Kimsey and Caroline Kimsey. Great Grandchildren: Jayden Kimsey, Jailyn Kimsey, Jayliah Peterson, Lucas Stevens, Colton Kimsey and Leila Kimsey as well as many cousins, nieces and nepehews.
Services will be on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point, Georgia. The visitation will be 9:30 til 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will be at 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Epworth, Georgia. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church in Epworth.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Southwest Christian Care and or Christian City Children’s Home in Union City, Georgia.
