Students at Mountain Area Christian Academy participated in the 2015 Third Grade Writing Challenge this morning. FYN met an excited group of third graders for the writing challenge. The questions for this season was….”How I will choose my wife or husband.” Although the subject matter gave an interesting and humorous view of how third graders think of their future spouse, the essays were very thoughtful and interesting. Although choosing the winning essays amongst so many good ones is always a difficult choice. The winners chosen were Griffin Ganas and Ana-Maree Kaylor.

Even though the two highlighted students are presented special prizes all students are excited over a free DQ mini-cone and plenty of pencils. The end result of these challenges is hoped to be the creation of a special appreciation for writing and reading.

Mr. Pritchard spoke to the children regarding the importance of writing and reading. He also pointed out internet safety tips in which he answered questions from some of the children.

A special thanks goes to the lead third grade teacher, Debbie Galloway and the staff and administrators at MACA. Much appreciation goes to all the students that participated. FYN’s also thanks the following sponsors for making this academic endeavor more exciting for these special children: Dairy Queen, Blue Ridge Pharmacy, Mercier Orchards, Mountain Dental Assoc., Shottenkirk Ford, and Sherwin Williams in Ellijay.
