North Georgia Technical College Visits MEC

Rebel's Corner

Ms. Kristie Gibbs, NGTC Student Affairs Director, visited Mountain Education Charter High School for their “Double Dip” event on October 2. Ms. Gibbs spoke to the students about the criteria and benefits of being a dual enrollment student.Students can take classes at the college that earns them both high school and college credit – thus, “double dipping!” It is a beneficial way to gain both the experience of going to college and getting a jump on a college education. One of MEC students Maggie Espinosa is currently taking introductory health education classes and enjoys the hands-on experience and campus environment. She plans on taking more next semester. MEC also has two additional students who are participating in the dual enrollment program: Paige Tilley and Brianna Foreman. Ms. Gibbs also spoke to the students about attending NGTC as a full time student and the many programs available. The “Double Dip” evening was capped off with ice cream for all from Dairy Queen.
