Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Johnnie Royce Brown, age 61, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Thursday afternoon, September 18, 2014, at his home following a brief illness.
Royce was born on February 24, 1953, In Young Harris, Georgia, a son of the late Johnnie Mack Brown and Laura “Bessie” Lee Garrett Brown. Royce lived in Blairsville for most of his life, and worked as a pharmacist for 34 years. He retired from the pharmacy in 2011 and went to work for Union County Elementary School. Royce was a member and deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Blairsville.

Royce will be remembered and dearly missed by all who knew him, but especially his family: wife, Brenda Brown, of Blairsville; mother Bessie Brown, also of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Jessie Brown, of King George, Virginia, and son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Erin Brown, of Roswell, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Teressa Brown, and brother, Ronnie Brown, all of Blairsville; grandchildren, Delaney and Yuri Brown, of King George, Virginia; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Royce have been scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 2014, at 3:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Raymond King, Dan Trulove, Homer Powell, Charles Brackett, Larry King, and Dewayne Patterson. Selected to serve as honorary escort to the family is Russ Carver and J.B. King. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be meeting with friends on Saturday evening, September 20th, between the hours of 6 until 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations in memory of Royce be directed to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 665, Blairsville, Georgia 30514.
