Mr. Archibald Martin Edward MacDonell went home to be with the Lord August 28, 2014. He passed away at his residence with his loving wife, Linda Kephart MacDonell and niece, Sandy Carswell by his side. Born November 11, 1948 to Angus and Joyce MacDonell from Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He was preceded in death by son, Jason (Roady) MacDonell.

He leaves behind wife, Linda Kephart MacDonell, three sons, Archie Harpell of Canada, Steve Maney and wife Brandie of Cummings, GA, and Scott MacDonell and wife Sarah of Murphy, NC, also Amber MacDonell and family; two granddaughters, Bianca Dorr and Trinity MacDonell; four grandsons Joshua and Kyle Maney, and Maddox and Colton Hughes; special nephews, Jacob, Jesse, Riley Anderson and Jacob Martin Anderson; special brother-in-law, Harold Carswell, sisters, Jennifer and husband Norman, Heather and husband Harry, Catherine and husband Carl, Angela, Valerie, Carol, and Sharon; brothers, Chris and Bruce all of Canada. He leaves behind several other nieces and nephews.

He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. Every child who came into his life, he treated them as family. He was a friend to all. He loved writing poetry, building, hunting, and fishing. He was retired from Levi Strauss. He also worked for Hill Phonix, Excell Refrigeration, and Scott Cole.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 1, 2014, at 11:00 am at the Cochran Funeral Home in Murphy with the Rev. Scott Cole and Rev. Bo Phillips officiating. Music provided by Bagpiper, Jon Dipert. Interment followed in the Friendship Baptist Church in Suit, NC. Pallbearers included Jacob Anderson, Jesse Anderson, Richard Carswell, Dewayne Carswell, Darryl Carswell, and Jamie Hughes. Honorary pallbearers were Marty Anderson, and Harold Carswell.
