Georgia Audio-Video Technology Grant Press Release – From ESE Networks:The 2014-2015 school year will be an exciting year for Fannin County High School. Fannin County High School was recently awarded a grant through the One Georgia Authority to support the development and expansion of its Audio Video Technology instructional program.

The goal of this grant is to leverage ESE Networks’ experience in the film and audio/video industry and its experience with U.S. Education TV to provide high schools with the equipment, server storage capacity, and technical support to provide students with new and expanded opportunities to engage in remote broadcast and other learning activities aligned with the Audio-Video Technology and Film career pathway. Students will be able to learn and become proficient in live, multi-camera production and will become better prepared for employment opportunities in Georgia’s growing film industry following graduation.
Fannin County High School received a “Studio in a Box,” enabling filming and broadcasting high-quality HD video, as well as access to the ESE Networks platform. The grant also provides digital storage space for content and technical support for effective implementation.

“We, at ESE Networks, are thrilled to help facilitate the state approved One Georgia Audio-Video Grant. Fannin County High School is one of the first schools to be awarded this grant in the state of Georgia. At a time when schools are strapped for resources, teachers and students now have an opportunity to receive state of the art video broadcasting equipment. This equipment will enable students to have hands on experience, giving them the ability to enhance FANNNINREBELTV.”

From Fannin County High School:

Fannin Rebel TV is an online video on demand site, www.fanninrebeltv.com, that was started in 2012 by the Technology Student Association at FCHS. The purpose of the program is to record events and activities at FCHS and post them for viewing on the Internet. The site hosts video of sporting events, graduation, and other academic activities. Before receiving the grant from ESE Networks, videos were posted a few days after the actual event. Now that FCHS has received the grant, we will be able to broadcast live events!

“We are excited to receive the grant provided by ESE Networks for our Audio Video program at FCHS. This equipment will enable our students to learn valuable skills in a high technology market. By providing live programming for events at FCHS and in the community, FCHS will be able to build a closer bond between the school system and the local community. Broadcasting live events over the internet will allow more community members to stay informed of events and activities in the school system. Ultimately, FCHS will broadcast a daily TV show that will provide everyone in the community with up to date information on FCHS.” Erik Cioffi

The equipment provided by ESE Networks includes two state of the art, High Definition Sony Video Cameras with all accessories, Wirecast Pro video production software, Blackmagic connection boxes, and the entire Adobe Suite of products for video editing and production with access to the Creative Cloud. With the equipment, students will be able to film events with multiple cameras and have students engaged in play by play commentary live on the internet, much like watching a sporting event on television.
“Fannin Rebel TV has been viewed tens of thousands of times over the last two years by students, parents, and community members who were unable to attend events in person, or who wanted to see the events again. Having this equipment will enable the Technology Student Association and the Audio Video Pathway students at FCHS to bring events to the community as they happen. The educational opportunity for these students to learn the job skills necessary to produce a live event is priceless. Georgia is working to expand the video production industry across the state, and these students are learning the skills to pursue careers in this high technology market,” said Bubba Gibbs, Audio Video Teacher.

Fannin Rebel TV would not be possible without the generous support of the business community over the last two years. FCHS would like to thank Nancy MacLean from Century 21, The DQ Grill and Chill, Kevin Panter Insurance, Mercier Orchards, United Community Bank, Mason Tractor Company, June Walker Chevrolet, and ETC for their contributions to get the video program started at FCHS over the last two years. The program has grown from a small group of students working in their spare time to 45 students enrolled in the video program this year.

Going forward, local businesses will be able to purchase advertising slots during live events, as well as sponsor specific sports and academic activities. The advertising money will be used to support the Technology Student Association and the Audio Video program at FCHS.
