Our Wilderness Rescue Team and EMS had two rescues off of trails in the Springer Mountain/Three Forks area last week. On Thursday, a hiker experienced chest pain while on a trail. He made it to a road and was met by rescuers and taken to Fannin Regional Hospital by ambulance. Then on Saturday, a hiker suffered an ankle injury about ¾ of a mile in on a trail. Rescuers had to carry him out to an ambulance for transport to North Georgia Medical Center in Ellijay.

Dispatched to the above location for the report of smoke in the residence. First arriving units found flames showing from the roof, and was 75% involved. Engine 7 deployed two attack lines and started a defense attack on the fire while protecting garage that was next to the house, and propane tank. Called for Power Company to disconnect power. Water shuttle was setup in the area of Dial Rd and Toccoa River. Also called Ga Forestry units in to put a ground line around the area of the fire due to the dry and windy conditions. State Fire Marshall investigating cause of the fire.

Dispatched to the above location for the report of a possible house fire. Caller had stated that he had just arrived home to find his smoke alarms going off and blinds in window were melted. And did not open the door. Engine 11 arrived on scene and deployed an attack line and made entry thru front door and found a burned area in front of fire place that had self extinguished. Used thermal imaging camera to check area. Fire appeared to have come from the fire place.

Dispatched to the above location for the report of chimney fire that was going thru the ceiling. First arriving units found light smoke coming from residence and renter using water hose to extinguish fire. Engine 4 and personal pulled ceiling and outside wall to access fire and extinguish.
