Lions, tigers and dogs, OH MY! That’s right, the streets of downtown Blue Ridge were filled with pet and pet owners dressed up as wide variety of characters, including the flying monkey from the classic movie, The Wizard of Oz.
Paws in the Park, an event sponsored by the Humane Society of Blue Ridge and generated a tremendous turn out of pets. With a variety of breeds, there were over 100 dogs present for the doggie parade that took place the morning of the event.
The overall cause of the event was to increase awareness of the programs offered by the Humane Society including the SNIP program which offers discount incentives to have your pet spayed or neutered. Adoption was also an awareness for the event. People came from near and far to participate and let their four legged friends mingle with their counterparts throughout the day.
Overall, the event was a successful one and many people walked away with a substantial amount of knowledge about the Humane Society and their programs. Anyone interested in more information about these programs may contact the Humane Society of Blue Ridge.
