Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. James Jasper Hunter, age 77, of Warner Robins, Georgia, who passed away Monday, October 7, 2013.
James was born in Blairsville in 1936, the last of nine children. He joined the Air Force when he was 18 and retired after 26 years of service to his country. During his years in the military, he had lived in Tucson, Arizona and San Antonio, Texas. For the past 30 years, James had lived in Warner Robins. He was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Hayes and Lydia Hunter; siblings: Howard Hunter, Hazel Collins, Irene Shuler, Mary Lou Walker and his beloved son, James Michael Hunter.
James will be lovingly remembered and missed by his surviving family members: sisters, Lucille Johnson, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Blanche Swain and Doris Souther of Blairsville, Georgia; brother Franklin Hunter, of Blairsville; stepson Kris Kimmy of Erie, Pennsylvania; dear friend Mary Clements, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for James have been scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. Burial will be in Choestoe Cemetery, with Military Honors presented by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour before the funeral service begins.
