Lady Rebels Ride to Allatoona Tournament: Fannin Finishes 2-2

The Fannin County High School Lady Rebels Softball team traveled to the Allatoona Tournament, finishing 2-2, with wins over Southeast Whitfield and Woodland, and losses to Lassiter and North Cobb.After a close, 6-5, loss to Banks on the road, the Lady Rebels faced the Lassiter Lady Trojans in the Allatoona tournament. Lassiter scored all five runs in the first two innings and held Fannin scoreless for a 5-0 Lady Trojans victory.

Fannin faced Southeast Whitfield in the second game of the tournament, winning 7-1. The game was scoreless until the Lady Rebels scored four runs in the bottom of the third, and added one each in the next three innings. A SEW run in the top of the seventh kept the Lady Rebels from picking up the shut out.

Josie Millsaps and Amy Mintz, each had two hits in the game, with Mintz driving in two runs. Starting pitcher, Jace Armstrong, pitched six innings with six strike outs and 23 first strike pitches.

Fannin faced the Lady Warriors of North Cobb next, falling 14-6, despite an early 4-0 lead after the first inning. The Lady Warriors battled back in a big way in the top of the second, scoring nine runs.

The Lady Rebels, cut the lead to 9-6, with two runs in the bottom of the second; however, Fannin found no more offense, while North Cobb scored two more runs in the fifth for the 14-6 win.

A 6-5 win over Woodland was last for the Lady Rebels at Allatoona. Fannin drew first blood, scoring a run in the top of the first; however, Woodland brought the wood in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs.

Woodland increased the lead to 4-1 with a run in the bottom of the fourth. The Lady Rebels responded with three runs in the top of the fifth, to tie the game and two more in the top of the sixth, taking a two run 6-4 lead into the seventh inning.

Woodland cut the lead to one; however, Fannin preserved the 6-5 Lady Rebels victory. Katie Brown led the Lady Rebels with three hits in the game, while Mallory Deal led with two RBI. Armstrong threw a complete game, with four strike outs and 26 first strike pitches.

The Lady Rebels sit at 4-6 on the season.
