Mrs. Adele Roper Mercier, age 95 passed away on August 19, 2013 at her home in Blue Ridge, GA.
Born in Gordon County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Edward Grant and Vida Lou Green Roper. She was the Co-Founder of Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, GA along with her late husband, William Rice Mercier. Mrs. Mercier was the last of the nine Roper siblings.
Survivors include her children, William Timothy “Tim” and wife Sandra Mercier of Blue Ridge, GA, Helen Mercier Childs and husband, Henry Childs of Young Harris, GA and James Embra Mercier of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Mary Melissa Lillard and husband David, and Amanda Harper Mercier and husband Joe Foster all of Blue Ridge, GA; great grandchildren, Zachary Mercier Lillard, Annabell Lee Lillard and Alexandria Grace Foster; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday August 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Brunson officiating. Interment will follow in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Bill Walden, Bill Prather, Keith Guess, Jack Morton, Delores Rosas, Eulis Davis, Dane Kirby and Ronnie Roper.
Friends may call after 12:00 noon Wednesday, however the family will especially meet with friends after 4:00 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Fannin County Scholarship Fund in Memory of Mrs. Adele Mercier at P.O.
