The Atlanta Braves trimmed their spring roster by eight players today, as five players were re-assigned to minor league camp, one player was placed on the disabled list, one player was placed on outright waivers and one player was released.
Right-handed pitchers Kenshin Kawakami and Rodrigo Lopez were re-assigned, along with catcher J.C. Boscan, infielder Ed Lucas and outfielder Wilkin Ramirez.

Right-handed pitcher Scott Proctor was released from the organization and outfielder Joe Mather was placed on outright waivers.

Right-handed pitcher Kris Medlen was placed on the 15-day disabled list as he continues his recovery from “Tommy John” surgery (August 18, 2010).

Atlanta now has 25 active players remaining in its Major League camp, but the official Opening Day roster will not be announced until Tuesday, March 29.

The Braves begin the 2011 campaign on Thursday, March 31, at Washington (1:05 pm, SportSouth).
