The Fannin Rebels fought hard against the Kings Ridge Tigers on the final day of the Pickens Holiday Classic on Saturday but just could not keep up the pace in the third and fourth quarter of the game, as the Tigers roared to the beat of a 28 point second half to come out on top.
Both teams used the first quarter of play to feel each other, leading to a quarter in which points were at a premium. Leading the game 6-4, the Rebels continued to fight hard in the second quarter, but a buzzer-beating three by Kings Ridge gave the Tigers a slim 16-15 lead.
Fannin continued to stay within striking distance of the dangerous Tigers in the third quarter, putting up six points and trailing Kings Ridge 25-21 entering the final period of play.
Unfortunately for the Rebels, the Tigers took off in the fourth quarter, going on a 5-0 run to start a period that would see the team outscore Fannin 19-12. When it was all said and done, the Tigers would come away with a 44-33 victory.
Will Patterson played his heart out against Kings Ridge on this night, recording twenty points and four rebounds in the loss.
Austin Rhodes had an outstanding game for the Rebels, finishing the contest with team-highs in assists and steals with four assists and three steals, respectively.
