Rebels Rewarded After Rough Season at Football Banquet

The Fannin County Rebels Football team had their annual end of season banquet at the FCHS cafeteria Monday night, December 17, 2012.The Rebels had a tumultuous season under first year head coach, Greg Chambers. This, however; did not deter the Rebels from playing their hearts out after every snap of the football. These players showed that they gave their all and it paid off for them at the banquet.

The first award given out for the evening was the Scholastic Award, given to the athlete who not only excels on the football field but the classroom as well. This award was given to Freshman Dylan Frank, Sophomore Hunter Rice, Junior Mason Buchanon, and Senior Josh Lasley.

The next award given was Scout Team Player of the Year, awarded to Josh Lasley.

Mason Buchanon was awarded Most Improved.

Chris Fain took home Special Teams Player of the Year.

Most Outstanding Offensive Back of the Year was awarded to Peyton Satterfield.

Noah O’Neil was awarded Most Outstanding Wide Receiver.

Trevor Stone was awarded Offensive Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Defensive Back.

Blake Callihan took home two awards, Defensive Lineman of the Year and Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Most Outstanding Linebacker was awarded to Jerod Petty.

Jordan Gray took home Defensive Player of the Year.

Shawn Callihan and Heath Davenport were given the Coaches Award.

All-Region Second Team was given to Peyton Satterfield, Noah O’Neil, and Blake Callihan.

Trevor Stone, Joseph Sanders, Jerod Petty, and Jordan Gray were all named Honorable Mention.
