Open Arms Hosts Breakfast with Santa

Community, Non Profit

Parents and children flock to the Arts Center in Blue Ridge to have breakfast with Santa.Open Arms of Blue Ridge recently hosted its annual Breakfast with Santa fundraising event. Each child was able to come in, have a photo with Santa, ride the trackless train around town, have muffins with Mr & Mrs Claus, mail a letter to Santa and make crafts with Santa’s helper Elves.

Dianne Mallerine, founder of Open Arms, said the event was a success, having over 60 children attend, but not as successful as the prior year. The event raised a few hundred dollars, which will be used to fund the Open Arms facility that is currently waiting for the state to approve their contract. Once the contract is approved, Open Arms will be able to accept foster children who are removed from their homes with no place to go. The center can house up to ten children for a maximum of 90 days.
