The Fannin County Rebels Basketball squad took on the Union County Panthers at Union County High School Friday, November 30, 2012. The Lady Panthers beat the Lady Rebels 57-44, and the Panthers beat the Rebels 60-32 in the last game of the night.
The Lady Rebels fared well in their match up with the Lady Panthers, actually leading for much of the first period.
Fannin went into halftime trailing by four points, 29-25, with Hope Cochran leading her Lady Rebels in points, and defensively dominating.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to an early lead in the third but the Lady Rebels showed that they still had fight left, in them only trailing by four again at the end, 43-39.
The Lady Panthers seemed to be too overpowering for the Lady Rebels, winning by a score of 57-44.
Hope Cochran led the way for the Lady Rebels with 17 points, and a defensive prowess below the basket.
The Rebels began their warm up to take on Union. The ball tipped off and the game was off.
The Panthers fired out of the gates with a vengeance. Union was firing on all cylinders for the whole game, holding the Rebels to only nine points in the first period, 19-9.
The Panthers were unstoppable from beyond the three point line. Even with a hand in the face, the Union players would still drain buckets.
Going into the locker rooms at half, one could see the game was starting to get ugly, with the Panthers leading 37-13.
Coming out of the half, it was more of the same with the Panthers extending its lead to 25 point at the end of the period.
The Panthers finished the game coasting to the finish, winning 60-32. The Bright spots for this Fannin squad were Will Patterson and Will Mason, who both scored 5 points.
